Diverting 70% of all Central Bedfordshire waste

Shanks has been working with Central Bedfordshire Council since 2012 to treat 26,000 tonnes of black-bag waste at its East London Frog Island facility. This waste had previously been sent to landfill and incineration.

This facility will seek to extract further recyclable material that is remaining within black bag waste, before converting unrecyclable material into a lower-carbon replacement for fossil fuels. This will increase the diversion rate to 70%.
